Publication of New Book October 2020

I have written a collection of short stories, “Buster's Memoir as told to George Johanson.” It is a 56-page book with illustrations that delves into the secret life of my cat, Buster, who dictated his life as a spy to me. The book will be available through the Augen Gallery.

Retrospective Exhibit at Augen Gallery Nov 1 – Nov 30, 2018

My exhibition ran for the month of November. It featured a substantial look at the drawings, paintings, prints and sculpture I have created over the decades. The Augen Gallery is located at 716 NW Davis, Portland.

Publication of autobiography

I have written a memoir entitled “My Life As George Johanson.” It is a book of 189 pages with 50 photographs that looks at my life and art though my experiences in the art communities of Portland, New York and London. It is printed in a limited edition of 200 copies, signed and numbered. The book is available at the Augen Gallery for $35.

Exhibit at Augen Gallery March 3 – April 2, 2016

My exhibition of linocuts and paintings on display opened at the Augen Gallery March 3rd, 2016. A color catalogue with text by Prudence Roberts created to accompany the show is still available. I gave a talk about this exhibit Saturday, March 12 at Noon which was well attended. The Augen Gallery is located at 716 NW Davis, Portland.

Gallery Talk at Augen Gallery

My show is of recent paintings (from the past 2 years) and a survey of my prints from the present on back to 1980. The paintings have a special emphasis on heightened color. The exhibition is on for the month of October, 2014.

PCC Rock Creek Ceramic Tile Mural Purchase

A mural of mine has been recently purchased by Rock Creek Portland Community College. It is called “Mythscape - Day and Night, ceramic tile, 2009, approximately 3 feet by 9 feet.

Paramount Hotel Mural Installed

Another tile work of mine has been recently installed at the Paramount Hotel in Portland, Oregon. It is called “Mythscape- Rivers and Roads,” 36 inches by 114 inches.

ODOT MURAL INSTALLED

I have recently completed a large painting for the Oregon Department of Transportation headquarters building in Salem, Oregon. It is titled “Day and Night”, an oil, 5 feet by 8 feet and hangs in the lobby.
